The PDF unConference

May 19th: There were about 100 people in attendance at the PDF unConference. Many had been at the PDF conference earlier and were involved in politics, blogging and community action with technology.
An unconference is like a conference run on web 2.0 principles. Information flows in all directions, not the standard one to many model like TV or flat websites. It's kind of like democracy in action, or town meeting in Vermont. There was no set schedule prior to the unconference and most of the topics were suggested spontaneously by attendees who thought they had something cool to present.
GML at The PDF

May 18: GML was at the Personal Democracy Forum in NYC at Pace University. PDF is a gathering of technopoliticos involved in blogging, politics, technology and how they all work together in our democratic process.
The keynote speaker was the oft unseen Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google. He covered many topics in his wide ranging discussion with Thomas Friedman, including memes and confirmational bias. Schmidt wondered whether the proliferation of information online allowed anybody to confirm their suspicions or prove their point. He was unsure if the internet and Google were supporting more open minded or close minded world views.
Representative Welch and Net Neutrality

February 22nd, 2007: Joe Golden representing GML and the Vermont Software Developer's Alliance was at a meeting of concerned citizens who met with Representative Welch's Community Liaison, Mary Sprayregen. Members of the technical business community were in attendance, as well as concerned citizens with little technical expertise.
Center for Media and Democracy goes Drupal!

We are happy to be working with the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) in Burlington as they move their web presence to a Drupal based system. The Center for Media and Democracy runs Chittenden Community TV, the Channel 17 public access television station, CyberSkills Vermont, and CCTV Productions.
Triangulus has been involved in an ongoing Drupal development project with CCTV to come up with a system for building TV schedules, generating airtime and production reports and much more. This work forms the basis of the Pegevent module.
Net Neutrality

GML was at a press conference on Net Neutrality at Senator Jefford's office in Montpelier on August 31st at noon. 3200 signatures were being delivered to Senator Jeffords urging him to support Net Neutrality. The VT Dept. of Libraries, VT chapter of the ACLU, VPIRG and Channel 17 Public Access TV were among those speaking in support of Net Neutrality at the press conference.
IBM Picks Drupal Over Other CMSs

IBM evaluated a number of content management systems recently in their Open Source Developer Series before deciding on Drupal for their collaborative web site implementation. They stacked up, compared and test drove Drupal, Mambo, Ruby on Rails, Typo3, Movable Type, Word Press and Text Pattern.
